A short melody on a seven-note scale was generated in AlComp. The melody was slowed down and, in a similar method to Beginning g#, was duplicated by seven different instruments and had its attributes randomised: this time using a wider range of possible variation, and affecting attack, duration, and velocity. Then, each of the seven voices was retuned to its own unique, chance-derived scale of seven tones in the space of less than a major third. These methods were used not to produce a sense of microtonal harmony or counterpoint, but to produce music that can sustain timbral interest in slow, sustained sounds using only note events in general MIDI.
